DAP works by splitting files into smaller pieces and automatically seeking faster mirrors. It also can get a file simultaneously from several sites, which is useful if a particular site limits the download speed; it can resume downloads; and it can preview some media files while downloading. It speeds-up downloads by almost 200% in most cases and occasionally as high as 400%.
DAP offers file management capabilities by keeping track of all downloads and providing a history of what has been downloaded and when. DAP will additionally recover and resume a download which has been interrupted by a broken connection.
